About The Academy
The Agenda 2063 Academy is a non-profit organisation that seeks to engage African civil society, and in particular, the citizens of African countries, to be the main drivers and stakeholders of the implementation of Agenda 2063.
Founded in The Kingdom of Eswatini in July 2019, The Academy seeks to run scalable projects, and partner with like-minded organisations and government entities in order to support Africa's youth and its women to be the change-makers Africa needs.
WHY AN ACADEMY?
In 2015, The African Union adopted the Agenda 2063 Framework document as a road-map for AU member states to follow in order to realise an "integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena".
However, there many African citizens across the continent remain disconnected to the reality of Africa having its own development goals. This difficulty to engage civil society has been raised by The African Union as an obstacle to successful implementation of Agenda 2063 Goals and Flagship Projects.
We have established an Academy in order to engage African citizens on the continent, and in the Diaspora, to be the key drivers and main stakeholders of its development. With the support of our partners, we aim to increase awareness of Agenda 2063, and - most importantly - to improve access to opportunities for Africa's women and youth to be active change agents in their local communities.
To be Africa's lead advocate for civil society engagement of Agenda 2063
